NVivo Boot Camp

Our NVivo Boot Camp is your opportunity to make some serious progress on your NVivo analysis! Suitable for researchers who are either brand new to NVivo or those who have got to grips with the basics and are keen to know what else is possible. Ideally you’ll have some data of your own to work with, but we can provide sample data if required.

A key aspect of the NVivo Boot Camp is access to our self-paced NVivo courses (these are part of our Research Accelerator membership). These range from introductory through to intermediate level, so there’s something for everyone regardless of what stage your project is at. The Boot Camp is a little different to our usual courses in that it’s customised to what you need and designed to fit around busy lives. You don’t need to attend at a set time and can work through the material when you have the chance – whether that’s normal working hours or midnight once the rest of the household has gone to bed!

In addition to the self-paced video courses you’ll also receive two hours individual training with our Director, Lyn Lavery. If you’re new to the software Lyn will help you prepare your data, set-up an NVivo project and get underway with your coding and analysis. If you’re already underway with an NVivo project, Lyn can guide you through what else is possible in terms of further analysis. This might include working with classifications and queries, exploring NVivo’s visualizations or checking whether you have set-up your project appropriately.

Registering for the NVivo Boot Camp gives you access to the following:

Who is the course for?

The NVivo Boot Camp is suitable for researchers who need to work effectively with qualitative data. The content is designed to be flexible, so the boot camp is appropriate for researchers with any level of experience with NVivo. Ideally you’ll have a current project to work with, as this will allow you to put your learning immediately into practice.

About Lyn

Lyn LaveryLyn has taught research methods and data analysis in New Zealand universities for over 20 years. The fine print

  • The two hours individual training with Lyn must be used within the four-week period of the course.
  • Make sure you give Lyn a bit of a heads up as to when you’d like to meet (ideally meetings will be booked a week ahead of time, but times may be available on short notice).
  • You’ll only have access to the NVivo courses while you’re enrolled in the Boot Camp, so you’ll need to make a plan for when you’ll watch the material.
  • At least 24 hours notice must be provided for cancellation/postponement of appointments.
  • Need more time over the four weeks? No problem – additional time with Lyn can be purchased at the regular rate of NZ$209 per hour (GST inclusive).
